Purpose

Portfield Primary Academy is a primary school based in the Chichester area that is part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) Multi Academy Trust.

Due to increased house building in the Chichester area, and the consequent rise in pupil numbers at Portfield Primary, the School and Academy Trust approached the Local Authority to submit a request for funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). This would enable an expansion project to be undertaken delivering additional classrooms and ancillary spaces at the school.

The request for CIL funding has been approved and, as part of the agreement with Chichester District Council, the CIL funds will be paid directly to the County Council who will then transfer the payments in instalments on to the Academy Trust enabling the expansion project to be progressed.

Decision

The Service Director (Property and Assets) has approved:

(1) The passporting of £1.8m of received Community Infrastructure Levy funds to The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) to enable the expansion project to be carried out at Portfield Primary Academy

(2)The settlement and completion of the Funding Agreement with the Academy Trust as a condition for the transfer of funds.
