Purpose

The County Council received a
Community Highway Scheme (CHS) application in 2021 with the
aspiration to reduce traffic, noise, and vibration pollution,
creating a safer and improved environment within Ashfield Road,
Midhurst. The result is the proposed one-way for vehicles with
cycle contraflow, a 20mph speed limit throughout and refurbishing
existing road humps to mitigate any adverse impact of the
introduced one-way system.

The local County Councillor
Kate O’Kelly and Sussex Police have been consulted, both
before and after public consultation, and have expressed continued
support for the proposed scheme.

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport,
having considered the objections to the proposals, has authorised
the Director of Law and Assurance to –

a)
make the Traffic Regulation Orders in sections 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of
this report as advertised; and
b)
make the Traffic Regulation Order in section 2.1.3 of this report -
to be implemented at a later date if determined to be necessary by
the Assistant Director (Highways Transport and Planning) as set out
in section 2.6 of the report.
