Full council record

Purpose

In early 2022, following on from
the Parking Management Plan (PMP) phase 1 implementation, a review
of the Chichester Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) was undertaken.
West Sussex County Councillors, Officers, stakeholders, and members
of the public collectively identified potential amendments to the
scheme and adaptations to phase 1.

After extensive
review and completion of multiple intelligence gathering exercises,
a public consultation took place in April and May 2023 to consult
on identified parking/waiting restrictions in roads across the town
to improve safety, access, visibility and increase the amount of
parking provisions for residents and visitors. Also enhancing and
ensuring enforceability of restrictions on all sections of the
highway, within all zonal areas.

Forty
representations were received: 38 individual objections and 2 in
support.

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Highways &
Transport, having considered the objections, authorises the
Director of Law & Assurance to make the Traffic Regulation
Orders as advertised (apart from the proposals for Highland Road
and Cavendish Street) as set out in section 2 of the report and
Appendix A.
