Purpose
St Oscar Romero Catholic School in Worthing
currently offers provision for 11-16 year olds. In June 2023 the governing body of the school
published statutory proposals for a four week period to formally
consult with the public and other interested stakeholders regarding
the intention to create sixth form provision at the
school. The intention is to increase
the age range from 11-16 to 11-18 to incorporate post 16 provision
(16 -18) with effect from September 2024.
A review of the feedback submitted to the
Local Authority during the four week period indicated support, in
the main, for the proposal. More detail is provided in section 4 of
the report. Approval is now sought to
implement the change of age range.
Decision
The Interim Assistant Director (Education and
Skills) has:
1)
Approved the change of age range at St Oscar Romero Catholic School
from eleven to sixteen to eleven to eighteen years of age to
incorporate sixth form provision from September 2024, the Published
Admission Number of the sixth form to be 100 students in each of
year 12 and year 13 (200 in total).
2)
Agreed that the change in age range be approved on the basis that
the funding for the additional accommodation required to enable the
change has been fully secured and evidenced by the Governing Body
of the school and that there will be no call on West Sussex County
Council to fund any shortfall.
