Construction of pedestrian build out and uncontrolled crossing point on Lingfield Road, East Grinstead HT10 (23/24)
September 12, 2023 Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport (Cllr Joy Dennis) (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The County Council received a
Community Highway Scheme (CHS) application to improve pedestrian
crossing facilities to access Lingfield Road Recreation Ground,
play area and serve the walking route to nearby schools. The
application highlighted the difficulties for pedestrians,
especially vulnerable users, crossing Lingfield Road.
It is therefore proposed to
construct a pedestrian build-out and dropped crossing point, with
supporting no parking restrictions via the introduction of
prohibition of waiting (double yellow lines), to improve visibility
for pedestrians, ensuring Stopping Sight Distances are maintained,
combined with a reduced road width to further aid vulnerable users
crossing Lingfield Road (see Appendix A).
Six objections to the proposed
scheme were received and have been summarised and responded to (see
Appendix B).
The local member for East Grinstead Meridian, Cllr John Dabble has reviewed comments
following public advertisement and supports the TRO to be
implemented as advertised.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Highways and
Transport, having considered the objections to the proposals,
authorises the Director of Law & Assurance to make the Traffic
Regulation Order as advertised and for the restrictions (as set out
in section 2 of the report) to be implemented.
