Change of age range at Woodgate Primary School, Pease Pottage - Determination of Statutory Notices OKD69 (22/23)
May 11, 2023 Assistant Director (Education and Skills) (Paul Wagstaff) (Officer) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Woodgate Primary School in
Pease Pottage is a school that caters for children aged four to
eleven with an onsite nursery for two to
four-year-olds. It is proposed that the
school incorporates the current pre-school nursery provision within
the age range of the maintained primary school, extending the age
range by two years so it serves two to eleven-year-olds.
This age range change would
assist in simplifying the transfer of the entire school to the
Sussex Learning Trust which is taking over the sponsorship of the
school as an academy and is due to take place in June
2023.
In March 2023 following a
four-week informal public consultation to obtain feedback, which
indicated support for the change of age range, the Cabinet Member
for Learning and Skills approved progression to the next stage of
the process (decision
LS13(22/23) refers). This involved the publication of
formal statutory proposals for a further four-week period seeking
any additional representations on the proposed change of age range
at Woodgate Primary School.
Following conclusion of the four-week period
no representations were received, therefore it is proposed to
progress to change the age range at Woodgate Primary School from
May 2023.
Decision
The Assistant Director (Education and Skills)
has approved the change of age range at Woodgate Primary, from four
to eleven years of age, to two to eleven years of age, to come into
effect from May 2023.
