The Service Director (Highways, Transport and Planning) has approved funding for applications submitted to the West Sussex Lane Rental Surplus Fund (WSLRSF) for May as follows:

WSLRSF8 - Funding is for the completion of the remaining northern sections of the Centurion Way which aims to expand the low carbon/active travel opportunities in the local area, including enabling new circular routes, with associated wellbeing benefits and benefits to the local economy. Upon its completion it will link the South Downs Way at Cocking and the wider Bridleway network at Hoefield Lane. The value of the application is £200,000.

WSLRSF19 - The application is for Southern Gas Networks (SGN) to replace legacy percussive barholing with a precision, insulated drilling method and capture drilling dust at source. This is to finish investigations faster, disturb the highway less and materially improve health outcomes for engineers and the public. The value of the application is £148,020.

WSLRSF24 - The project aims to trial a range of practical interventions designed to mitigate, reduce or deter abusive behaviour towards workers operating on the highway network. These interventions include site-wide CCTV coverage, clear “CCTV in Operation” signage, Heras fencing with plain screening to provide increased shielding and separation and Heras fencing with printed imagery or behavioural messaging aimed at influencing driver and public conduct. The purpose of the trials is to evaluate the effectiveness of different combinations of physical and visual interventions in reducing abusive and unacceptable behaviour. The value of the application is £75,000.
