North Horsham & Colgate: A264 Horsham Bypass and Crawley Road 50mph Speed Limit - CM NKD TRO - HT02 (26/27)
September 24, 2026 Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport (Cllr Erika Woodhurst-Trueman) (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Horsham District Council granted outline planning permission for the significant development known as Mowbray on land north of Horsham.
As part of the planning permission for the Mowbray development there is a planning obligation to reduce the speed limit on the A264 between the Moorhead and Great Daux roundabouts. The speed reduction is being phased as trigger points in the construction schedule are reached.
This proposal is to extend the existing 50mph speed limit on the A264 Horsham Bypass south-eastwards up to and including the Moorhead roundabout junction, and to introduce a 50mph speed limit on the A264 Crawley Road north-eastwards from the Moorhead roundabout junction to a point north-east of Wimland Road.
During the statutory public consultation, 12 objections were received and 2 supports for the speed limit changes.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport authorised the Executive Director of Law Assurance & Insight to make the Traffic Regulation Order as advertised.
