September 18, 2024 Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport (Cllr Joy Dennis) (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The County Council received an
application from a local resident for a new traffic regulation
order (TRO) for a speed limit reduction from the existing 40mph
speed limit to a proposed new 30mph speed limit on a residential
part of London Road.
The proposed new 30mph speed
limit would extend from existing 30mph/40mph terminal signs near
Waterside on London Road to the London Road Roundabout at the
junction with Jane Murray Way.
In November 2023 the Assistant
Director (Highways, Transport and Planning) approved the TRO for
progression.
The proposals were advertised
between 18 April 2024 and 9 May 2024. Seven
objections to the proposed scheme along with one comment of support
were received which have been summarised and responded to in
Appendix B to this report.
Sussex Police and the local
member for Hassocks & Burgess Hill South,
Cllr Kirsty Lord, have reviewed comments following public
advertisement and have expressed no objection to the Traffic
Regulation Order (TRO) to be implemented as advertised.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport,
having considered the objections to the proposals, has authorised
the Director of Law and Assurance to make the Traffic Regulation
Order as advertised and for the restrictions (as set out in section
2 of the report) to be implemented.
