Purpose

West Sussex County Council
(WSCC) owns the freehold estate of the Brick Kiln Estate as
identified by the plan set out in Appendix B.  This ownership is southeast of the city of
Chichester close to the A27 and is mostly flat and intersected by
hedgerows.
 
The County Council’s
total ownership on the estate extends to 46.42 ha (114.72 acres).
The Southern Holding of the Estate is currently let to a soft fruit
producer. It is recommended to grant a new lease on freshly agreed
terms to the existing tenant.  
 

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Finance and Property
has approvedthat:
 
1)  
the County Council grant a new lease of part of the Brick Kiln
Estate, Kives Farm South, Part of Holding 60 and 62. The leased
area measures 23.31 ha (57.60 acres). The lease to be granted to
the existing tenant subject to contract and agreement of final
terms, as set out in the report (Appendix A restricted for
members only); and
 
2)  
authority is delegated to the Assistant Director (Property and
Assets) in conjunction with the Director of Law and Assurance to
negotiate, agree and conclude the terms of the lease.
