Purpose

There is currently no recognised VCFSE Infrastructure organisation in Wigan Borough. This is increasingly becoming a significant gap for the sector and borough.

A model is needed to help create a structure, to allow interaction, dialogue and influence and importantly to enable the effective and efficient flow of investment from regional and national sources into the broad and diverse sector, for the benefit of Wigan borough residents.

This model will allow us to work with a recognised, highly trusted independent organisation within the Borough, to help lead and develop capacity and infrastructure in the sector, with and by the sector.

Decision

The Assistant Director – Community Wealth and Health approves:-

(1)          the appointment of the provider identified in the report for the Development of Collaborative Infrastructure Body within Wigan Borough Voluntary Community Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector; and

(2)          the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections to enter into agreements necessary on behalf of the Council to facilitate 1.
