Purpose

The Council aims to determine planning applications as efficiently as possible. To help with this, it is essential that applications are submitted with all the information that the Council, as Local Planning Authority, will need to determine them. At the same time, it is important that our information requirements are proportionate and do not force applicants to incur unnecessary expense.

In this context the Council is required to publish a checklist containing local and national planning application validation requirements. The Council’s Validation Checklist has recently been updated, and consulted on, in order to ensure that the Service strikes this proportionality balance.

In preparing the updated validation checklist, the Service has had regard to the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) Order 2015 and the National Planning Policy Framework.

Decision

The Portfolio Holder for Planning, Environmental Services and Transport approves the updated Local Validation List be adopted and published.
