Purpose
The objectives
of the Drug & Alcohol Specialist Nurse Team
• To reduce A&E attendances (that are drug or
alcohol related).
• · To reduce admissions to hospital (that are
drug & alcohol related).
• · To reduce the costs of alcohol and drug
related admissions.
• · To work in partnership with other services
such as the community drug & alcohol service to increase the
number of patients engaged with community services.
• · To contribute to a planned and smooth
discharge of patients with drug and alcohol related problems as
well as those that are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping
in order to increase the opportunities of a positive outcome in the
community.
• · To improve the quality of care provided to
patients who are admitted to hospital with drug & alcohol
related conditions.
Decision
The Deputy
Leader (Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care)
authorises:-
(1)
the appointment of WWL to deliver the service described, and
on the terms outlined, in the report; and
(2)
the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and
Elections to enter into such documentation on behalf of the Council
to give effect to 1.
