Purpose

To approve the contract award for carrying out works to the temporary market locations in Spinning Gate shopping centre

Decision

The Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Regeneration authorises:-

1)     the award of the JCT Design and Build Contract to the contractor named in the report, and on the terms described in the report for the carrying out of works to the temporary market locations in Spinning Gate shopping centre in order to accommodate market traders whilst the Leigh Market Hall is undergoing refurbishment;

2)     delegated authority to the Assistant Director - Planning and Regeneration to take all decisions necessary to facilitate the agreements and processes referred to at 1 above including but not limited to, approving variations to the works contract and any agreements with Spinning Gate shopping centre pursuant to the works, provided that any cost changes are within the overall project budget envelope as described in the report; and

3)     the Chief Legal Officer to enter into any agreements on behalf of the Council to facilitate the above.
