Purpose

This report provides an update on Sites of Biological Importance (SBI) designations within the borough. SBI’s are subject to a review process by the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit on behalf of the ten councils in Greater Manchester, including Wigan. This update combines the latest available reviews which were undertaken in 2023 and 2024.

Decision

The Portfolio Holder for Planning, Environmental Services and Transport approves the amendments to the Register of Sites of Biological Importance arising from the 2023 and 2024 Greater Manchester Ecological Unit reviews appended to the report.
