Purpose

To consider the comments
received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation
Order (TRO hereafter) proposing the introduction of a 30mph speed
restriction on the C59 Shaftesbury Road, Mere.
 
To recommend proceeding with
the introduction of the TRO as advertised.

advertised. 

 

The objectors be advised
accordingly. 

 
This decision was published on 8 July 2025 and
will come into effect on 16 July 2025. 
 

Reasons for the decision

The Council’s
proposals are supported by the elected Wiltshire Council Member,
Mere Town Council and the correspondents who wrote in during the
formal TRO consultation period.
 
The Council’s
proposals are concordant with the design guidance outlined in DfT
Circular 1/13 Setting Local Speed Limits (revised in March
2024)
 
The proposals are in
accordance with Themes 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Council’s
Business Plan.

Alternative options considered

To:
 
(i)        
Implement the proposed TRO as advertised.
 
(ii)        Amend the
proposed TRO in consideration of the comments received.
 
(iii)       Abandon the
proposals.
