Purpose
Following a competitive tender process a
decision required to award a contract for the Design, Supply,
Installation and Maintenance of Bus Shelters and Bus Stop
Infrastructure (BSI).

Resolved:
That Cabinet:
Delegates authority to deal with all matters
relating to the procurement, the award of the Contract (including
entering into the same) and any future
extensions to the Director responsible for Highways and Transport
in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Highways, Streetscene and Flooding.
Approves the initial Contract Term (2 February
2026 to 28 February 2031) with the option to extend for up to a
further five (5) years at an estimated cost of up to £8
million that will be funded by current and future Bus Grant Funding
from the Department for Transport.
Reasons for Decision:
To allow the 2025/26 Local Authority Bus Grant funded
design, supply, installation, maintenance and repair of bus
shelters and BSI, in accordance with the approved Local Authority
Bus Grant Delivery Plan, and to avoid the potential risk of having
to return the funding to the Department for Transport.
A robust procurement process is in progress to
identify the most suitable tenderer.
Cabinet approval of the delegation of the decision to
award the contract to the preferred bidder is sought to allow
programme delivery within the timescales available through the
grant conditions.
