To approve the North Wessex Downs National Landscape (NWDNL) request to apply, and if successful, accept multiple grants from the National Grids Landscape Enhancement Initiative. The grant amounts collectively will exceed one million pounds in grant funding for multiple projects across the NWDNL.

Alternative options considered

Not accepting funding. The project is designed to assist in delivering multiple outcomes that uphold the statutory duties of the NWD NL and Wiltshire council. Not accepting funding will mean that targets will be harder to meet and the NWD NL will not be fulfilling its statutory
purpose of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the North Wessex Downs. Other Funding Options Other funding sources are limited and not necessarily available for the geographic location. Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship is invitation only and not available to most of these project areas. This fund has been found to be the most viable for project that are within the targeted areas of the pylons and will be complimentarily to other funders.
