To approve the contract for the delivery by Anaphylaxis UK of allergy training for schools and governors for academic year 2026-27.

Reasons for the decision

Anaphylaxis UK is offering bespoke training for Wiltshire schools and governors based on Benedict’s Law and new statutory Department for Education (DfE) guidance ‘Allergy Safety in Schools’ which becomes mandatory across all state-funded schools in England from 1 September 2026, ensuring schools understand their new legal obligations around allergy safety.

Anaphylaxis UK were identified by Wiltshire Council Public Health as the appropriate partner to support schools with the forthcoming statutory changes to ‘supporting children with medical needs’. Anaphylaxis UK are the only supplier that has produced dedicated Benedict’s Law (anaphylaxis understanding and preparedness) implementation and policy guidance.

Anaphylaxis UK training is specifically designed around allergy emergencies in educational settings, and they are widely recognised by schools as the specialist charity for severe allergies and anaphylaxis. The training ensures schools are compliant and fulfil their duty as set out in Benedict’s Law.

Anaphylaxis UK will deliver three school ‘Allergy Lead and Policy Development’ sessions at a cost of £800 plus VAT per session, and two ‘Named Governor Training’ sessions at a cost of £450 plus VAT per session.
