Purpose

1.     To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO hereafter) proposing to extend the 30mph speed limit on the road known as C251, Stockley and implement a new 40mph speed limit on Church Road, Heddington, near Calne.

2.     To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the TRO as advertised.

Decision

I confirm the proposed Traffic Regulation Order as advertised.

Please note that this decision was initially published on Thursday 30 July 2026 but is being reissued. As such, it will be effective from Tuesday 8 September 2026.

Reasons for the decision

1. The Councils proposals are supported by the elected Wiltshire Council Member, Heddington Parish Council and all the correspondents who responded during the consultation period.

1. The proposals are in accordance with Priorities 2, 5 and 7 of the Council’s Business Plan.
