Decision
To approve, award and enter into a new agreement with Institute of Swimming (IoS) for support with swimming teacher training courses and candidates
Reasons for the decision
The IoS operate and run recognised training courses that the council utilises to ensure that all Council staff are fully qualified.
The council has a signed Service Level Agreement with IoS for other provision, but this is to specifically support the council with finding, recruiting and training swimming teachers/instructors.
Provision of swimming teachers/instructors is vital to Leisure Services provision of our Swim School (Aqualetes) programme which provides income to the service.
See the attached document for considerations in line with Wiltshire Council’s Constitution.
Alternative options considered
Leisure could not use IoS support
This would be counterproductive as the council would then have to find, recruit and train the staff themselves which is not proving successful so any support in this vital area is worthwhile
