About

The Scrutiny Committee holds the Council's Cabinet to account, focusing on strategic issues and possessing the power of 'Call-In' to review decisions. Its role, as defined by the Local Government Act 2000, is to constructively challenge and question decisions, aiming to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of council services for local residents.

This committee, alongside two policy-focused committees, contributes to the development of the council's budget and policy framework. It conducts research and consultation to analyse policy issues, identify options, and make recommendations to the Cabinet or Council, assessing the impact of implemented policies.
