Strategic Applications Sub Committee

The Strategic Applications Sub Committee is a group of six to nine members of the Planning Committee responsible for making decisions on significant planning matters. It considers major developments outside Wirral that could affect local residents, and specific types of planning applications. These include large-scale housing or commercial developments, mineral extraction and waste disposal, council development projects, significant departures from planning policy, and applications where the planning director deems it inappropriate for delegated decision-making due to public interest. The sub-committee also reviews Local Development Framework documents and advises other committees as needed.
