Decision

The Assistant Director of Governance and Corporate Support, in consultation with the Mayor, has approved amendments to the Council’s Calendar of Meetings 2026–27, as previously approved by Council in March 2026, to correct minor omissions and operational issues, namely:

  • To add the following omitted meetings:

-  Planning Committee – 28 January 2027

-  Pensions Committee – 23 March 2027

-  Constitution & Standards Committee – 28 September 2026

-  Council (Reserve) – Thursday 25 March 2027

  • To reschedule the Council meeting currently set for 30 November 2026 to 25 January (replacement date), to enable approval of the Council Tax Base and receipt of the External Audit Annual Report within required statutory timescales and thereby avoid the need for additional meetings.
  • To permit any consequential rescheduling of committees impacted by this change, including the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee currently scheduled for 25 January.

Reasons for the decision

A review of the Council’s Calendar of Meetings for 2026–27, approved by Council in March 2026, has identified a small number of administrative errors and omissions. These issues have been corrected in consultation with the Mayor.

On the advice of the Director of Finance, it is also proposed that the Council meeting currently scheduled for 30 November 2026 be rescheduled to 25 January 2027. This change will ensure that the Council Tax Base and the External Audit Annual Report can be considered and approved within the required statutory timescales, avoiding the need to convene additional Council meetings.

As a consequence of this change, a meeting of the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee currently arranged for 25 January 2027 will also need to be rescheduled. Publishing the attached Officer Decision Notice will enable these amendments to be made and included in the committee calendar in good time.

Alternative options considered

No other options where considered, as several meetings were omitted in error. Retaining the existing schedule of Committees would also create timing issues for statutory approvals, potentially requiring additional meetings.
