Employment Committee

The Employment Committee is responsible for overseeing key staffing decisions and employment matters for Woking Borough Council. It handles the recruitment, selection, and terms and conditions for senior officers, including the Head of Paid Service and Strategic Directors. The committee also considers allegations of misconduct or capability issues concerning these officers, can suspend them, appoint investigators, and hold disciplinary hearings, with the power to dismiss.

Additionally, the committee advises the Council on human resource requirements, employee relations, equal opportunities, and the efficient use of staff resources. It reviews and recommends employment policies, including pay awards and organisational structure changes affecting Chief Officers, and considers pension matters.
