The Executive Resolved

That (i)   the
Council should submit a response to the government  consultation on a new legal framework for law
enforcement use of biometrics, facial recognition and similar
technologies;

       
(ii)  the responses included at Appendix
2 to the report to specific questions of the consultation should be
submitted on behalf of the Council; and

       
(iii)  in the event that recommendations
(i) and (ii) are agreed, that the Portfolio Holder for Community
Safety is authorised to make any minor changes to the responses, as
may be required, prior to submission of the response.

Reason:  A decision is
needed from the Executive on whether a response to the consultation
can be submitted and the contents of that response.
