Public Consultation on Conservation Area Appraisals EXE26-061
July 9, 2026 Executive (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To consider the merits of important planning policy documents in preparation for formal Council adoption, and to seek authority for community and stakeholder consultation.
Decision
The Executive Resolved
That (i) the draft Conservation Area Appraisal documents covering four of Woking’s Conservation Areas are approved for public consultation;
(ii) the Head of Planning be authorised to carry out a public consultation exercise on three Conservation Area Appraisal documents for a period of seven weeks; and
(iii) a further report shall be submitted to Executive with a recommendation to full Council for a decision as to approval or otherwise of the Conservation Area Appraisal documents taking into account the outcome of the consultation.
Reason: This public consultation exercise will allow the Council to fulfil its statutory obligation to consult on CAA documents before they are formally adopted. It will also enable the exchange of information between the Council and local stakeholders on the Borough’s Conservation Areas and their buildings, which will help to inform the final documents. Ultimately, this will enable the preparation of these documents to progress to the point of completion and subsequent adoption by Full Council.
