Purpose

To consider approving the submission of the MHCLG consultation on establishing a Foundation Strategic Authority in Surrey.

Decision

RESOLVED That

(i)         subject to a similar resolution being made by the East Surrey Shadow Authority Executive, the appended East Surrey Shadow Authority and West Surrey Shadow Authority joint consultation response to the Government consultation on the proposed establishment of a Combined Foundation Strategic Authority for Surrey be approved; and

(ii)        authority be delegated to the Interim Head of Paid Service, in consultation with the Leader and the Monitoring Officer, and subject to a similar resolution being made by the East Surrey Shadow Authority Executive, enabling the East and West Surrey Shadow Authority Chief Executives to make any final minor amendments to the joint consultation response prior to submission, provided that such amendments do not materially alter the substance of the response.
