Executive Councillor for Active Travel, Transport and Highways - Paul Fishwick decided on 05/03/2024 to approve Wokingham Borough Council's response to the Department for Transport's consultation on street works fines and lane rental surplus funds. The council supports Option B for raising fixed penalty notice levels and supports applying overrun charges and fines for late notices at weekends and bank holidays. The council also supports the proposal for a minimum of 50% of surplus lane rental funds to be spent on repairing potholes, with a suggestion to broaden this to general highway maintenance.
