Purpose
This report details the outcome of initial consultation on the proposed SEND Resource Base at Colton Hills Community School and seeks approval to progress to formal consultation (Representation).
Decision
- Considered the outcome of initial consultation on the proposed SEND Resource Base at Colton Hills Community School and approve progression to formal consultation (Representation).
- Noted, that subject to approval of the recommendation in this report, the outcomes of both initial and formal consultation on the proposed SEND Resource Base at Colton Hills Community School will be presented at a future Cabinet Meeting for a final decision.
- Noted, under Section 14 of the Education Act 1996, The Local Authority (LA) has a statutory duty to:
· ensure that sufficient school places are available within their area for every child of school age whose parents wish them to have one.
· to promote high educational standards, to ensure fair access to educational opportunity
· to help fulfil every child’s educational potential
· ensure that there are sufficient schools in its area and promote diversity and parental choice, and;
· keep provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) under review (including its sufficiency).
