Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Wiltshire and are not the council. About us
The Tidworth Area Board is scheduled to meet on Monday 15 June 2026, with a key focus on community funding applications and updates from local partners. The meeting will also address highway improvement recommendations and provide an opportunity for public questions.
Funding Applications for Local Projects
A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to considering applications for funding from various grant streams. The board will review requests for the Community Area Grant, Young People's grants, and Older and Vulnerable People grants.
Among the applications to be considered is a request for £1000 from the Tidworth Area Youth Committee Projects, intended to support small youth engagement initiatives identified by the newly formed Youth Council.
For older and vulnerable residents, Age UK Wiltshire has applied for £170 to contribute towards a Daytime Discos
event for those aged 55 and over in Tidworth. This event aims to combat isolation and build friendships within the community. The application notes that £830 has already been awarded from the 2025/26 budget.
Young people's projects include an application from the Army Welfare Service Tidworth for £2500 towards summer youth activities and a residential programme designed to encourage social inclusion and well-being. Spurgeons Children's Charity Wiltshire Family Hub is seeking £500 to establish a Street Sports
initiative outside the Leisure Centre during the summer holidays. Collingbourne Ducis Parish Council has applied for £5000 towards the development of Saunders Meadow as a community area for young people.
The board will also note any funding awards made under delegated powers since the last meeting, including £300 to Stand Easy Veteran UK for a tri-weekly hub in Tidworth, £830 to Age UK Wiltshire for their Daytime Discos event, and £2500 to the Army Welfare Service Tidworth for summer youth activities.
Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group Recommendations
The meeting will also consider recommendations from the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG). These include proposed signage amendments for Tidworth Town Council at Dingleys Promise, with a requested cost of £2000. Another recommendation is for Tidworth Town Council regarding signage for Zouch Farm Close and Sidbury Circular, also with a £2000 allocation. Further details on the LHFIG process and its remit can be found on the Wiltshire Council website1.
Key Partner Updates
Updates are scheduled from key partners, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and various Town and Parish Councils such as Tidworth TC, Ludgershall TC, Chute PC, Collingbourne Ducis PC, and Everleigh PC. Inspector Gavin Brewster of the Neighbourhood Police Team will also provide an update.
Community Spotlight: Southern Policing Hub
Philip Wilkinson OBE, the Police and Crime Commissioner, is scheduled to provide an update on the Southern Policing Hub.
Area Board Priorities and Youth Discussion
Updates will be provided on the Area Board's priorities, with specific focus on Community Safety & Crime (Cllr Dave Lumsden), Health & Wellbeing (Cllr Christopher Williams), and Youth (Cllr Keith Allen). An open discussion on youth projects and activities is planned, offering an opportunity for attendees to share their thoughts and identify further opportunities for positive youth engagement.
Information Items
The board will note written updates and information items from organisations including Community First, Wessex Community Action, the Connect to Work Programme and Skills Bootcamps, the Wiltshire Community Lottery launch, the Wiltshire Faith Communities Network, and the Wiltshire Council Consultation Portal.
Appointments and Other Business
The meeting will also include the election of a Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the upcoming year. There will be an opportunity for the Chairman to provide updates since the last meeting. Additionally, lead members will be appointed to outside bodies and the LHFIG, and the Terms of Reference for the LHFIG will be noted. The minutes of the previous meeting held on 2 February 2026 will be presented for confirmation.
