The Adult Social Care & Health Select Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 17 June 2026. The meeting's agenda includes a review of the draft Quality Accounts for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the development of the committee's work programme for the upcoming municipal year.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Quality Accounts
The committee is scheduled to review the draft Quality Accounts for the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. These accounts are a requirement under the Health Act 2009 and serve as an annual report for NHS Foundation Trusts to assess the quality and safety of their healthcare services. The purpose of these accounts is to report performance information, identify areas for improvement, and outline how these improvements will be achieved and measured. The report pack indicates that the draft Quality Accounts for 2025/2026 will be scrutinised by the committee members. Local overview and scrutiny committees have the option to provide comments on these accounts, which can be included in the final document. The statutory health scrutiny guidance issued in 2024 highlights the vital role of health overview and scrutiny committees in reviewing and scrutinising the planning, provision, and operation of NHS and health services within their local areas.
Select Committee Work Programme 2026/2027
A key item on the agenda is the development of the Select Committee's work programme for the municipal year 2026/2027. This report will update members on the progress of this development. The committee is expected to discuss its priorities for the year, which will then be presented to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 8 July 2026. Members will also be asked to agree on a detailed work programme outlining reports and items for scheduled meetings throughout 2026/2027. A significant recommendation within this item is to refer a report on the re-organisation of the North West London Integrated Care Board (ICB) to the next meeting of Full Council on 24 June 2026. The report pack notes that the Adult Social Care and Health Committee has a remit to scrutinise the delivery, outputs, and performance of council services, as well as departmental policy, strategy, and projects, with a statutory role in scrutinising NHS and healthcare services delivered to the borough's residents. The development of the work programme involves identifying priorities by considering the role of scrutiny and how it can focus on delivering work of value and relevance to the council and residents, drawing input from the public, ward councillors, officers, and Lead Members. The report also mentions that the committee will be scrutinising the budget for the Adult Social Care and Public Health departments in December 2026 and will review the Annual Report of the Safeguarding Adults Executive Board in November 2026.
The meeting is scheduled to begin with 72 seconds of silence to remember those who lost their lives in the Grenfell tragedy. The agenda also includes the confirmation of the minutes from the previous meeting held on 23 March 2026 and a special meeting held on 27 May 2026.
