The Audit and Corporate Governance (Performance Review) Sub-Committee of Camden Council met on Monday 23 March 2026 to review the performance of the Chief Executive. The meeting also saw the election of Councillor Richard Olszewski as Chair for the remainder of the municipal year and the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting held on 7 May 2025.
Chief Executive: Performance Review
The Sub-Committee reviewed the performance of the Chief Executive for the year 2025/26. This annual review is a key function of the committee, providing feedback that will inform the Leader of the Council's decisions regarding the Chief Executive's pay and future objectives. The report detailing the background to this process was presented, and the discussion itself was held in private session. This was due to the nature of the information, which falls under Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, specifically concerning information relating to an individual. The decision to exclude the press and public was made to protect personal information and uphold the individual's right to privacy.
The meeting concluded with the Sub-Committee providing comments to the Leader of the Council, Councillor Richard Olszewski, who is also the Leader of the Council. The previous meeting on 7 May 2025 also involved a performance review of the Chief Executive, with similar procedures for excluding the public due to the confidential nature of the information.
The following councillors were present at the meeting: Councillor Sagal Abdi-Wali (Cabinet Member for Better Homes), Councillor Judy Dixey (Whip of the Liberal Democrat Group), Councillor Heather Johnson, and Councillor Richard Olszewski. Councillors Camron Aref-Adib (Cabinet Member for Finance and Cost of Living) and James Slater were absent, having sent their apologies.
The minutes of the meeting held on 7 May 2025 were approved as a correct record.
