Local Waiting Restrictions Programme

The committee noted the progress of the Local Waiting Restriction Programme and decided that sites which had received no objections would be progressed. A report detailing restrictions that had received objections will be presented at the next meeting. This decision means that new waiting restrictions will be implemented in five locations: Broad Street in Black Torrington, Avon Lane in Westward Ho!, Torridge Road in Appledore, The Links in Richmond Park, Westward Ho!, and The Square in Holsworthy. These changes aim to prevent obstructive parking, improve visibility, and facilitate traffic flow. The programme is funded by the Local Highway Maintenance capital grant, with an estimated cost of £1,500 per advertised Traffic Order, plus any costs for signage or lining. The proposals are intended to rationalise parking, encourage sustainable travel choices, and assist pedestrians and vulnerable road users, aligning with the council's Strategic Plan's values and operating principles.

Actions Taken Under Delegated Powers

The committee noted a report detailing actions taken under delegated powers since the last meeting. This included the implementation of traffic regulation orders in various streets across Dolton, Bridgerule, and Black Torrington, introducing 20mph speed limits and extending existing 30mph limits where applicable. Additionally, a No Waiting At Any Time restriction was implemented on Hatchmoor Common Lane, Great Torrington, and an extension to the existing 30mph speed limit was put in place on Abbotsham Road, Bideford. These actions were taken after consultation with the Chair and local County Councillors, and where objections were received, they were resolved through this consultation process.
