Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Croydon and are not the council. About us
The Appointments and Disciplinary Committee of Croydon Council met on Tuesday 14 April 2026. The primary business of the meeting involved continuing interviews for the role of Director of Culture and Community Safety. Following the open session, the committee moved into a private session to conduct these interviews.
Director of Culture and Community Safety Interviews
The committee continued with the interview process for the position of Director of Culture and Community Safety. This role was previously advertised, and candidates were shortlisted at a meeting on 11 March 2026. The interviews for this position were scheduled to take place in Part B of the meeting, meaning the public and press were excluded. Full details regarding the role and its associated salary were available in the agenda pack for the meeting.
The meeting concluded with the exclusion of the press and public to allow for the continuation of these confidential interviews. This decision was made under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972, on the grounds that the discussions would likely involve the disclosure of exempt information.
The following individuals were present at the meeting: Mayor Jason Perry (Chair), Councillor Lynne Hale (Vice-Chair), Councillor Jason Cummings, Councillor Stuart King, Councillor Enid Mollyneaux, Councillor Callton Young OBE, Elaine Jackson (Interim Chief Executive), Dean Shoesmith, Venetia Reid-Baptiste (Corporate Director to Sustainable Communities, Regeneration and Economic Development), Ged Curran (Best Value Commissioner), and Adrian May (Democratic Services).
