The Appointments and Disciplinary Committee of Croydon Council met on Tuesday 14 April 2026. The meeting primarily focused on the interview process for the Director of Culture and Community Safety role, with the public and press being excluded for the latter part of the proceedings to allow for confidential interviews.
Director of Culture and Community Safety Interviews
The committee continued its interview process for the significant role of Director of Culture and Community Safety. Candidates had previously been shortlisted at a meeting on 11 March 2026. The interviews for this position were conducted in two parts, with Part A of the meeting being open to the public and press. However, the committee then moved to Part B, where the press and public were excluded to allow for confidential interviews, in accordance with Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972. This exclusion was proposed by Mayor Jason Perry, Chair of the Committee, and seconded by Councillor Stuart King, Leader of the Opposition. The full details of the role and salary were available in the agenda pack from the 11 March 2026 meeting.
The following individuals were present at the meeting: Mayor Jason Perry (Chair), Councillor Lynne Hale (Vice-Chair), Councillor Jason Cummings (Cabinet Member for Finance), Councillor Stuart King (Leader of the Opposition), Councillor Enid Mollyneaux (Shadow Cabinet Member for Community Safety), Councillor Callton Young OBE (Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Cabinet Member for Finance), Elaine Jackson (Interim Chief Executive), Stephen Lawrence-Orumwense (Chief People Officer), and Adrian May (Democratic Services).
