The General Purposes Committee of Redbridge Council met on Thursday 10 February 2022 to discuss changes to polling stations for the upcoming local elections. The committee agreed to relocate polling stations in Fairlop Ward and Ilford Town Ward, and delegated authority for any further necessary changes.

Changes to Polling Stations

The committee agreed to relocate polling stations in two wards due to venue unavailability for the local elections on 5 May 2022. In Fairlop Ward, the polling place for station FA5 will move from Clore Tikva School to the Hainault Room at Fullwell Cross Library. This change was requested by the school to minimise disruption to pupils' learning. For Ilford Town Ward, polling stations IT4 and IT5 will move to the Children's Library at Redbridge Central Library. This decision was made due to uncertainty about whether the Town Hall's Main Hall would still be used as a Covid vaccination centre, and the unavailability of Lynton House, which had been used as an alternative venue for the GLA election in 2021.

The committee also agreed to delegate authority to the Corporate Director of Resources, in consultation with the Chair of the committee and relevant Ward Councillors, to agree any necessary additional changes to polling stations. Councillor Clark spoke on this item. All proposed polling stations were confirmed to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
