Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Wandsworth and are not the council. About us
The Richmond and Wandsworth Joint Appointments Sub-Committee met on Monday 19 June 2017 and unanimously resolved to offer an appointment to Mrs. R. Egan for the position of Assistant Director of Children's Services (Early Help), subject to standard conditions. The meeting was held in private to discuss this appointment.
Assistant Director of Children's Services (Early Help)
The Sub-Committee unanimously resolved to offer the position of Assistant Director of Children's Services (Early Help) to Mrs. R. Egan. This decision was made after interviewing two candidates for the role. The offer is subject to the usual conditions, including satisfactory health clearance, and the appointment will be effective from a date to be determined. The starting salary will be within the Hay Band 3 salary scale, as settled by the Chief Executive.
Following the meeting, in accordance with the requirements of the Local Authorities (Standing Orders) (England) Regulations 2001, all Cabinet and Executive Members of Richmond and Wandsworth Councils were consulted. No material or well-founded objections to the proposed appointment were received.
The meeting was chaired by Councillor Jonathan Cook, who was elected to the role in the absence of the usual Chairman and Deputy Chairman. Councillors Jeremy Ambache (Mayor of Wandsworth), Mrs. Sarah McDermott, Wendy Speck, Clare Salier, and Guy Senior were also in attendance. Councillors Ravi Govindia, George Crivelli, Peter Dawson, and Paul Hodgins were absent.
The Sub-Committee resolved to exclude the press and public from the meeting for the discussion of this item, as it was likely that exempt information, relating to an identifiable individual, would be disclosed. This decision was made under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, with the public interest in maintaining exemption outweighing the public interest in disclosure.
The candidates were provided with an advertisement, job profile, CV, and supporting statement. The interviews took place from 9.30 a.m., with each candidate answering questions from the Sub-Committee before withdrawing. References for the candidates were also reviewed.
The full details of the candidates and the recruitment process are contained within the Printed minutes 19th-Jun-2017 09.15 Richmond and Wandsworth Joint Appointments Sub-Committee.pdf and the Public reports pack 19th-Jun-2017 09.15 Richmond and Wandsworth Joint Appointments Sub-Committee.pdf.
