The Pensions Committee of Bromley Council met on Thursday 27 August 2026 to review the performance and annual reports of the Pension Fund. The meeting also included presentations from fund managers and discussions on pension fund investments.
Fund Manager Presentations and Performance Review
The committee was scheduled to receive presentations from fund managers Fidelity and London CIV. Following these presentations, a review of the Pension Fund's performance for the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year was planned. This report, detailed in the Pension Fund Performance Q1 2026/27 document1, was expected to cover the overall market value of the fund, its investment strategy, and a summary of its performance against benchmarks. The report also included information on early retirements and the attendance schedule for future fund manager meetings.
Pension Fund Annual Report 2025/26
A significant item on the agenda was the consideration and approval of the draft Pension Fund Annual Report for 2025/26. This comprehensive report, detailed in the Pension Fund Annual Report 2025/26 document2, was to be presented to the committee for review. It was expected to cover the fund's governance policy, funding strategy statement, investment strategy statement, communications policy statement, and pensions administration strategy. The report also included the fund account and net assets statement, along with appendices detailing employer contributions, administration key performance indicators, and actuarial information.
Local Pension Board Annual Report
The committee was also scheduled to review the Local Pension Board's Annual Report for 2025/26. This report, detailed in the Local Pension Board Annual Report 2025/26 document3, provides a summary of the board's activities, observations, and any identified areas of risk or concern. It also outlines the board's work plan for the upcoming year.
Questions from Members of the Public
The agenda included an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions relating to the work of the committee. One question was submitted by Shahada Hasan regarding the London CIV Responsible Investment Pillars and the factors influencing the Bromley Pension Fund's adoption of a particular pillar. Another question, from Drew Thomas, sought clarification on the disclosure of publicly traded assets held by the council.
