The Planning Committee of Bath and North East Somerset Council convened on Wednesday 2nd September 2026, addressing a range of planning applications. Key decisions included the permission for a temporary change of use for the annual Bath Christmas Market, allowing it to operate for up to 25 days annually in November and December, with an expanded footprint including Parade Gardens and Queen's Square. The committee also resolved to permit an outline planning application for up to 200 residential dwellings and Class E floorspace on Parcel 0014, Charlton Road, Keynsham, subject to a Section 106 agreement and conditions. Additionally, permission was granted for the residential-led redevelopment of the western end of the former Bath Press Premises on Lower Bristol Road, comprising 220 dwellings and commercial floor space, also subject to a Section 106 agreement and conditions. The committee also permitted the change of use of land at Pump Hook Lane, Hinton Blewett, for the seasonal rearing of game birds, alongside the retention of existing track and hardstanding, and the construction of a manege and storage building. Finally, permission was granted for the erection of five Padel courts with canopies, a pavilion, and associated car parking on land next to Bathampton Junction Station.
