The Pension Board of Tower Hamlets Council is scheduled to meet on Monday 21 September 2026. The meeting's agenda includes a review of the previous meeting's minutes and consideration of reports for discussion.
Reports for Consideration
The Pension Board is scheduled to consider a range of reports. These include the Pension Board Annual Report for 2025-2026, which details the work undertaken by the Board during that financial year. The Pensions Administration Report for March 2026 is also listed, providing an update on the administration and performance of the pension scheme for the quarter ending 31 March 2026. Additionally, the Scheme Engagement Report will be presented, outlining updates on employer and member engagement activities, including plans for a Pension Fund Annual Information Forum.
The Pension Fund Risk Register for June 2026 is also scheduled for review. This report provides an update on the principal risks facing the Fund, particularly those arising from the implementation of the Government's 'Fit for the Future' reforms to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and key pensions administration systems.
Pensions Committee Agenda
The agenda for the forthcoming meeting of the Pensions Committee is also to be discussed. This will provide an overview of the items that the Pensions Committee will be considering, which are expected to include many of the same reports as those presented to the Pension Board, along with some additional items.
Training Events
The Board is also scheduled to review information regarding training events. This includes an update on member training delivered since the appointment of the new Pensions Committee and an outline of the training available for 2026/27. The importance of maintaining knowledge and understanding following significant government reforms to pensions is highlighted.
Pension Board Work Plan
The Pension Board Work Plan for 2026/27 is to be discussed. This plan will outline the key issues and priorities for the Board's activities over the coming year, with a focus on compliance-related matters highlighted in the risk register.
Previous Meeting Minutes
The meeting will begin with the confirmation of the unrestricted minutes from the previous Pension Board meeting held on 20th July 2026. Following this, the restricted minutes from the same meeting will be considered.
