The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) was scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The meeting was scheduled to cover updates on local and national Religious Education (RE) matters, review the council's terms of reference and priorities, and include a workshop for self-evaluation.

Faith Forum Update

A representative from the Camden Faith Forum was scheduled to provide a verbal update on their recent activities. This update was expected to cover interfaith events and support initiatives. Members were scheduled to be invited to offer feedback on how the SACRE could support the Faith Forum's ongoing work.

Camden SACRE Terms of Reference, Protocol, and Member Roles

The council was scheduled to review its terms of reference and protocol, as is customary at the start of the academic year. Additionally, a document summarising the roles of SACRE members was scheduled to be considered, with members invited to ask any questions they might have regarding their responsibilities.

Local Updates on RE

The RE Advisor was scheduled to share information from the termly newsletter and RE network meetings for primary and secondary schools in Camden. This was to include details of the Autumn term newsletter, agendas for RE network meetings, and information about a free training opportunity focused on improving subject knowledge in RE. The RE Advisor was also scheduled to provide a verbal report on the results of Camden's Religious Studies data from Summer 2026.

National Updates

The RE Advisor was scheduled to present verbal updates on national developments concerning RE and Collective Worship. This was to include information on the Curriculum & Assessment Review (CaAR), a review of Collective Worship by the Department for Education (DfE), and details of webinar training offered by the National Association of SACRE (NASACRE). Members were scheduled to be invited to provide feedback on how the SACRE could enhance its knowledge of national issues and developments.

SACRE Self-Evaluation Toolkit Activity

A workshop was scheduled to take place where SACRE members, working in groups, were to use a self-evaluation toolkit. This activity was intended to assess Camden SACRE's current standing across five key areas, identify strengths and areas for development, and inform the SACRE's development plan. Members were scheduled to be provided with hard copies of the toolkit, along with the SACRE Annual Report 2024-25 and Camden SACRE's priorities for 2025-26, to aid their discussions. The self-evaluation toolkit itself was not to be published as part of the agenda due to its confidential nature and availability only to members of the National Association of SACREs (NASACRE). Observers were scheduled to be asked to leave the room during this session to maintain confidentiality.

Camden SACRE Priorities 2026-27

The council was scheduled to review a paper outlining Camden SACRE's priorities for the 2025-26 academic year. Members were invited to provide feedback on how they could support the proposed actions, with the document intended to remain a live record updated during SACRE meetings.

The remaining meeting dates for the academic year were scheduled to be noted: Wednesday, 10 February 2027, and Wednesday, 30 June 2027, both scheduled to commence at 5:30 pm.
