Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Wiltshire and are not the council. About us
The Tidworth Area Board is scheduled to convene on Monday 26 October 2026, with a meeting agenda that includes discussions on community funding applications, local highway improvements, and updates from key partners. The board will also hear a spotlight report on a detached youth work project.
Community Funding Applications
The board will consider applications for funding from various streams, including the Community Area Grant, Youth Grants, and Older and Vulnerable People Grants. Currently, the remaining budgets stand at £15,871 for Community Area Grants, £8,155 for Youth Grants, and £7,330 for Older and Vulnerable People Grants. One specific application to be considered is from Age UK Wiltshire, requesting £2,000 towards their Celebrating Age Wiltshire
project, which aims to deliver creative arts, music, theatre, and heritage events for older and vulnerable adults. The total project cost for this initiative is £10,435. The board will also note any funding awards made under delegated powers since the last meeting. Further information on the Area Board Grant system can be found here.
Local Highway and Footway Improvements
The meeting will include a review of the minutes from the Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG) meeting held on 9 September 2026. Attendees will be asked to consider any funding recommendations arising from that meeting. One specific item scheduled for consideration is a request from Tidworth Town Council for additional waiting restrictions on Hill Top Avenue, Tidworth, with an estimated cost of £885. The report pack also includes briefing notes from the Wiltshire & Swindon Countryside Access Forum and guidance on gates on public rights of way for information. Further details on the LHFIG process are available here.
Community Spotlight: Detached Youth Work Project
An update will be provided on the Detached Youth Work Project by speakers from Young Swindon & Wiltshire. This project aims to engage with young people within the community area.
Key Partner Updates
The board is scheduled to receive updates from key partners, including Wiltshire Police, Town and Parish Councils, and the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Written updates from Everleigh Parish Council, Chute Forest Parish Council, and Collingbourne Kingston Parish Council are included in the report pack, along with a quarterly video update from Fire & Rescue.
New Funding Streams
Graeme Morrison, Strategic Engagement & Partnerships Manager, will provide an update on new funding streams that are available. These include the Wellbeing Fund, Crisis and Resilience Fund, Locally Identified Infrastructure Projects, and the Community Lottery. Briefing papers on these funding streams are expected to be published as a supplement to the agenda.
Information Items
A range of written updates and information items will be presented for noting. These include information from Alcoholics Anonymous, Community First, the Faith Communities Network, a Violence Against Women & Girls Update, Wessex Community Action, Wiltshire Money, Wiltshire Working Well, a Winter Resilience Briefing Note, and the Wiltshire Council Consultation Portal.
Public Participation
The agenda includes an opportunity for public questions under the Ask Your Area Board
item. The Area Board welcomes public participation, and the Chairman will aim to ensure everyone who wishes to speak has the opportunity to do so. Further details on meeting procedures, questions, and other matters can be found in Part 4 of the council's constitution1.
Priorities Update
Lead members will provide updates on the three key priorities for the Area Board: Youth, Health & Wellbeing, and Community Safety. Councillor Keith Allen is the lead for Youth, Councillor Chris Williams for Health & Wellbeing, and Councillor Dave Lumsden for Community Safety.
