The Pension Board of Camden Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. The meeting's agenda includes a review of the Pension Committee's update report, which will cover investment performance and engagement activities. The Board will also consider the Pension Board's Terms of Reference.
Pension Committee Update Report
The Pension Board is scheduled to review an update report from the Pension Committee, detailing activities and decisions from meetings held on 16 July 2026 and 21 October 2026. This report summarises the Pension Fund's investment performance, which had a market value of £2.397 billion as of 31 March 2026, and later £2.644 billion as of 30 June 2026. The report highlights that the Fund's overall performance has been positive over the medium to long term, despite some individual manager underperformance.
The report also details engagement activities undertaken by the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF), focusing on areas such as climate adaptation and resilience, climate transition oversight, and human capital and human rights. The Pension Committee's work on pooling reforms through the London Collective Investment Vehicle (LCIV) is also outlined, including progress on investment strategy and responsible investment policies. Furthermore, the report covers the implications of new statutory guidance on Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) fund governance, which came into effect on 29 June 2026, requiring enhanced governance, training, and oversight. This includes the appointment of a dedicated LGPS Senior Officer and an Independent Person. The report also details preparations for the consultation on the Responsible Investment Policy and Investment Strategy Statement.
Pension Board Terms of Reference
The Pension Board is scheduled to note its Terms of Reference. These outline the Board's responsibility for assisting the Pension Committee in ensuring compliance with Scheme Regulations, other legislation relating to governance and administration, and the requirements of the Pension Regulator. The Board's role is described as providing oversight of assurance and governance in scheme administration, rather than decision-making. The core functions include assisting the Administering Authority in securing compliance with regulations and ensuring the effective and efficient governance and administration of the LGPS for the Camden Pension Fund.
