Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Worcestershire and are not the council. About us
The West Mercia Police and Crime Panel - Independent Member Appointment Panel was scheduled to consider the appointment of a new lay independent co-opted member. The meeting was also scheduled to confirm the minutes of a previous meeting and to consider procedures for their signing.
Appointment of Lay Independent Co-opted Member
The panel was scheduled to consider the appointment of a lay independent co-opted member to the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel. The report pack provided to the attendees contained information relating to this appointment, covering pages 1 to 48 of the public reports pack. The agenda indicated that this item would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, and therefore the press and public were recommended to be excluded from this part of the meeting. This recommendation was made under section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, on the grounds that the information related to an individual and that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing it.
Confirmation of Minutes
The panel was scheduled to authorise the procedure for confirming and signing the minutes of this meeting and a previous meeting held on 8 October 2026. It was recommended that the minutes be circulated to members of the panel and signed by the Chairman, taking into account any comments on their accuracy received within seven days of circulation.
