Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Aberdeen City and are not the council. About us
The Education and Children's Services Committee of Aberdeen City Council was scheduled to consider a range of reports and plans relating to the performance, education, and children's services of the council. Key discussions were expected to focus on the council's strategic plans for children's services, early learning and childcare, and support for additional needs.
Performance and Risk Management
The committee was scheduled to review the council's Performance Management Framework Report (CORS/26/138), which outlines how the council monitors its progress against objectives. Also scheduled for consideration was an Inspection Report (F&C/26/133) and a report on Approaches to Quality Improvement (F&C/26/132).
Education and Children's Services Strategic Planning
A significant portion of the meeting was scheduled to be dedicated to strategic planning for children's services. This included the annual report for the Aberdeen City Integrated Children's Services Strategic Plan (April 2025 - March 2026) (F&C/26/130) and the proposed Aberdeen City Children's Services Plan for 2026-31 (F&C/26/131). The committee was also scheduled to review a Health & Wellbeing Report (F&C/26/127).
Support for Additional Needs and Early Intervention
The provision of spaces for Additional Support Needs (F&C/26/137) was scheduled to be discussed, alongside plans for early intervention. This included the Early Learning and Childcare Delivery Plan 2026-28 (F&C/26/057) and reports on support services for children transitioning from primary to secondary education, specifically The Primary Bridge: Early Intervention Support Service
(F&C/26/128) and the Secondary Early Intervention Support Service
