Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on County Durham and are not the council. About us
The Pride in Place Programme (PiPP) Board for Crook North/Tow Law is scheduled to meet on Friday 6 November 2026. The meeting's agenda includes a review of the draft Investment Plan and associated documents, alongside updates on recruitment and next steps for the programme.
Review of Draft Investment Plan and Associated Documents
A significant portion of the meeting is scheduled to focus on the Pride in Place Programme
(PiPP) and its associated draft Investment Plan. This plan outlines the programme's vision and priorities for the Crook North and Tow Law areas over the next decade. The documents to be reviewed will include a 10-year vision, details on the local context of Stanley South, community engagement efforts, lessons learned, and the priorities for change. The board will also examine how the vision is to be delivered.
The report pack indicates that the draft Investment Plan for years 1-4 will be presented, detailing specific sections such as The 10 Year Vision,
Place and People local context Stanley South,
Community Engagement,
What we have learned,
Priorities for change,
and Delivering the Vision.
The programme, which aims to receive up to £20 million in funding support over 10 years, has already seen £541,066 in capacity funding released to assist in its formation and local engagement processes. The report also highlights that the draft 10-year vision is currently out for consultation via Lets Talk,
with an online survey running from 19 October to 1 November 2026. The board is recommended to approve the draft investment plan ahead of its submission to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on 30 November 2026.
Recruitment Update
The meeting is also scheduled to include an update on the recruitment process for the Pride in Place Programme. Following the agreement of a new boundary area and a recommendation from MHCLG for further recruitment of Board Members, five applications have been received and reviewed.
Next Steps
The board will receive an update on the upcoming Next Steps
for the Pride in Place Programme. This includes the submission of the 10-year vision and Pride in Place Plan to MHCLG by 30 November 2026. Additionally, plans are in place for the creation of Working Groups across priority intervention areas and the continuation of community engagement through public meetings in November and December. The co-design of funding application forms for any agreed grant schemes is also on the agenda.
Chair's Update
A Chair's Update
is scheduled, which will include a discussion on the Nolan Principles. These are a set of ethical standards for public life in the UK, promoting integrity, selflessness, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
