June 10, 2024 View on council websiteSummary
The Conservation Advisory Working Party of Newcastle-under-Lyme Council met on Monday 10 June 2024. The meeting included discussions on new planning applications, with decisions made on the proposals for The Chapel at Keele University and land at St Lukes Close, Silverdale.
The Chapel, Keele University, 24/00290/FUL & 24/00291/LBC
The Working Party reviewed the planning applications for The Chapel at Keele University. The proposals included making a feature out of the ramp and matching the materials. The Working Party had no objections and supported the proposal, noting the positive impact on the site's aesthetics.
Land at St Lukes Close, Silverdale 24/00231/FUL
The application for the land at St Lukes Close, Silverdale involved a three-storey element in an area predominantly featuring smaller, two-storey buildings. The Working Party discussed the increased height and concluded that the considerable setback from the highway and the retention of mature landscaping and trees would likely prevent any harmful impact on the character of the area and views into the Conservation Area.
Previous Decisions
The Working Party received a report on the decisions of the Borough Council on applications previously considered by the Working Party. The details of these decisions can be found in the previous decisions document.
Conservation and Heritage Fund
There were no applications for financial assistance from the Conservation and Heritage Fund during this meeting.
