The Executive Co-Portfolio Holder for Housing Decisions of Waverley Borough Council met on Thursday, 13 June 2024, to discuss contract extensions for essential services. The council approved extensions for both the HSL Water Hygiene Contractors and PCM Gas and Electrical Auditors to ensure continued compliance and safety for tenants.

Contract Extension: HSL Water Hygiene Contractors

The council approved a 12-month extension to the current contract with HSL Water Hygiene Contractors. This extension covers services such as risk assessment, monitoring, sampling, testing, and remedial works related to water hygiene compliance. The decision was influenced by the council's moral and legal duty to maintain safe living conditions for tenants. Additionally, the extension will allow time for the council to review and upgrade the services provided, facilitating the implementation of an improvement plan.

Councillor Paul Rivers stated, Waverley Borough Council has a moral and legal duty of care to keep its properties safe and compliant for its tenants to live in without fear of any accidents that could arise due to water hygiene non-compliance.

Contract Extension: PCM Gas and Electrical Auditors

The council also approved a 36-month extension to the current contract with PCM Gas and Electrical Auditors. This extension ensures the continuation of gas and electrical auditing services under the same terms and conditions. The decision was made to uphold the council's responsibility to provide safe and compliant housing for its tenants.

Councillor Janet Crowe noted, Waverley Borough Council has a moral and legal duty of care to keep its properties safe and compliant for its tenants to live in without fear of any accidents that could arise from gas and electrical non-compliance.
