The Planning Committee of Carmarthenshire Council met on Thursday 18 July 2024 and unanimously granted three planning applications. The committee also noted the Planning Appeals Report and received the Planning Service Performance Report for Quarter 1.
Determination of Planning Applications
The committee unanimously resolved to grant three planning applications, subject to conditions detailed in the relevant reports and addenda.
- PL/06172: This application sought permission for a rear extension to existing industrial units at Units 8 and 9, Hendy Industrial Estate, Hendy, Swansea, SA4 0XP. The decision was made based on the Report and Addendum.
- PL/07356: Permission was granted for one bungalow at land to the rear of 22 Bridge Street, Penygroes, SA14 7RP. The decision was informed by the Report and Plans.
- PL/07642: This application proposed additional car parking at land off Ffordd y Rhyd, Parc Amanwy, Ammanford, SA18 3EZ. The committee's decision was based on the Report and Addendum and Plans.
Appeals Report
The committee considered the Planning Appeals Report, which provided an update on lodged planning appeals as of 8 July 2024. It was unanimously resolved that the report be noted.
Planning Service Performance - Quarter 1
The committee reviewed the Planning Service Performance Report for Quarter 1, covering April to June 2024. The report detailed core performance monitoring indicators for the Planning Service, including the Development Management and Enforcement Division, alongside comparative data from 2023/24.
During the discussion, a suggestion was made that members of the Committee might benefit from training on the enforcement process. Hugh Towns, Senior Development and Enforcement Manager, informed the committee that arrangements were already underway for members to receive training on the appeals process, and that the scope of this training could be extended to include enforcement. The committee unanimously resolved to receive the report.
Minutes of Previous Meeting
The committee resolved to sign as a correct record the minutes of the meeting held on 20 June 2024.
