Update on the Growth Vision for North Wales
Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn provided an update on the Growth Vision for North Wales. The vision aims to create 30,000 new jobs and generate an additional £2 billion for the North Wales economy.
Councillor Siencyn emphasised the importance of collaboration, stating,
We're not just talking about economic growth in isolation here. We're talking about growth that benefits everyone in North Wales.
The Board discussed the need to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are felt across all parts of North Wales, including rural areas.
Skills and Employment
The Board discussed a range of skills and employment initiatives aimed at addressing skills gaps and improving employment opportunities in North Wales.
A representative from Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, a further education college group, provided an update on the college's work to develop a skilled workforce for the region. The representative highlighted the importance of partnerships between education providers and businesses in ensuring that training programmes meet the needs of the local economy.
The Board also discussed the challenges of youth unemployment and the importance of providing young people with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in the workplace.
Digital Connectivity
The Board received an update on the progress of digital connectivity projects in North Wales. Improved digital infrastructure is seen as crucial for supporting economic growth and attracting investment to the region.
There was discussion about the need to ensure that all parts of North Wales have access to reliable and affordable broadband, including rural areas.
